Central Indiana will enjoy one more taste of summer Thursday with temperatures soaring into the upper 70s and low 80s, well above normal for late October. A cooler, but still comfortable pattern takes over Friday and Saturday before rain chances return to wrap up the weekend.
Thursday brings the warmest weather we’ll see for a while as zonal flow and a cold front passing well to our north keep mild air in place across the region. Expect mostly sunny skies through midday with increasing clouds late in the afternoon. Southwest winds will be breezy, gusting to 20 to 25 mph at times, helping push temperatures into the upper 70s for most areas.

An isolated shower or two may pop up late afternoon, mainly across the northern third of the state, but most of central Indiana stays dry.
Skies clear out after sunset as drier air filters in behind the departing front. Expect partly cloudy conditions with overnight lows dropping into the mid-50s.
High pressure dominates the weather pattern Friday and Saturday, keeping conditions dry and pleasant. Sunshine returns Friday with highs in the low to mid-70s, still above the normal high of 59 degrees for this time of year. Saturday looks similar with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to near 70.
We’ve taken rain out of the forecast for Saturday evening – although a stray sprinkle or two can’t be ruled out. You should be in good shape for any Halloween festivities Saturday.

The dry stretch ends Sunday as a more progressive weather pattern develops. Moisture streams northward into the Midwest. Rain chances increase late Saturday night and continue through much of Sunday as embedded disturbances move through. Expect periods of steady rain rather than scattered showers. Highs Sunday will be cooler, topping out in the mid and upper-60s.
The wetter pattern continues into next week as additional weather systems pass through the region. Expect periodic rain chances Monday through Wednesday with the best opportunities for measurable rainfall coming with each passing disturbance. Temperatures will run slightly above normal despite the cloudier, wetter conditions, with highs generally in the mid to upper-60s.
