BOSTON, Massacusetts (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The Lake Township man accused of participating in violent ethnic-cleansing activities in his native Rwanda has been found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice by a federal jury in Boston.
The trial of 54-year-old Eric Nshimiye was based on testimony he gave in the U.S. during the immigration fraud trial of a former classmate.
He’ll be sentenced in January.
Nshimiye says he was in another country when the 1994 genocide occurred.
He became a U.S. citizen in 2003 and was working for Goodyear at the time of his arrest in March of 2024.
He has been in federal custody ever since.
