A 10-year veteran of the Houston Police Department has been charged with injury to an elderly individual after investigators say he struck his 69-year-old father during a confrontation in August.
According to a Harris County court records, Jarrett Micah Glenn, 40, is accused of injuring his father Cleveland Glenn by striking him during an incident on Aug. 28, 2026.
Glenn surrendered to the court Thursday morning and was allowed to go home on a personal bond.
“These charges are a result of a coordinated smear campaign by a jilted ex. This case is not based in truth and is in no way indicative of Jarett Glenn’s character. We are excited for the truth to come out in court where people’s statements are subject to perjury laws. Mr. Glenn is completely innocent of these charges,” his defense attorney Shelby Burns told KPRC 2.
Investigators said the confrontation occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 14600 block of Woodson Park Drive during a child custody exchange.
The case was investigated after a complaint was made to the Houston Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division, records show. Cleveland Glenn initially described the encounter as an “altercation” with his son but declined to pursue charges when contacted by investigators, saying it may have been a sign his son was having a “nervous breakdown.”
Glenn’s ex-wife reported learning about the incident the following day when she observed bruising and swelling around Cleveland Glenn’s eye. According to the charging documents, Cleveland Glenn told her the argument stemmed from disagreements involving child pickup arrangements and escalated into a physical confrontation.
A 13-year-old witness told investigators the two men were arguing and cursing at each other before the confrontation became physical. The witness said he observed Jarrett Glenn pinning his father against a vehicle but did not specifically see him strike his father.
Investigators later obtained surveillance video from the apartment complex. According to the charging document, the footage allegedly shows the two men arguing before Glenn grabbed his father by the shoulders and struck him in the face multiple times during a brief struggle lasting about 11 seconds.
Police also located an independent witness who reportedly told investigators she saw the men arguing, pushing and shoving each other and believed Cleveland Glenn was attempting to defend himself.
Medical records cited in the charging document show Cleveland Glenn sought treatment at a hospital two days after the incident, complaining of headaches, dizziness, neck pain and blurred vision. Doctors reportedly found no broken bones, major injuries or nerve damage but documented a small facial contusion and mild neck soreness.
After reviewing witness statements, medical records and surveillance footage, prosecutors with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted a charge of injury to an senior person on Oct. 14, according to court records.
The charge was formally filed Oct. 27.
State records show Jarrett Glenn has been employed with the Houston Police Department since April 2016 and previously worked for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
“Today (October 29), a Houston Police Officer turned himself into custody on a criminal charge of injury to elderly. As standard protocol, Jarrett Glenn has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an ongoing Internal Affairs Division’s investigation,” a spokesperson for HPD told KPRC 2.
