Houston is honoring Texans wide receiver Nathaniel “Tank” Dell with his own day in the city.

Mayor John Whitmire declared Oct. 29 as “Nathaniel ‘Tank’ Dell Day” in recognition of Dell’s perseverance and return to the football field following an injury.

Whitmire presented Dell with the proclamation during Wednesday’s City Council meeting, ahead of the official day of recognition on Thursday.

The mayor’s office shared the proclamation on social media, highlighting Dell’s journey from the University of Houston to the Houston Texans and describing his comeback as a sign of grit and perseverance.

Dell returned to the field Sunday after missing the 2025 season because of an injury.

The recognition celebrates Dell’s connection to Houston and his return to the game.
